notes

At the end of a wedding the memory cards are the only copy of the whole day. This little box makes the backup something you do without thinking: up to four SD cards and two drives, one button, and a clear answer on screen.

It runs on a Raspberry Pi 5 with a 4.3-inch touch display in a 3D-printed case, and boots straight into a PyQt application. Wi-Fi and text input are handled on the touchscreen itself.

The cards are never modified: the copy layer refuses any option that could delete or rewrite the source. Files are grouped by camera body from the EXIF serial rather than by card, and duplicates are settled by SHA-256, so the same frame is skipped and a different frame with the same name is kept.

I have already used it at a real wedding, and after that day I had to rewrite part of it.
